A good working relationship has been established between the Brandenburg (Germany) administration and the Voivodships (Poland) authorities. An agreement was reached in 2001 with the aim of fostering cooperation between the occupational safety and health authorities of both countries, specifically between Brandenburg’s Ministry of Labour and the Main Labour Inspectorate in Warsaw. This was underwritten by a wide range of measures. Information concerning safety for workers at construction sites in both countries has been provided as part of the project “Sicher bauen – über Grenzen hinweg” (Building safely – across boundaries) that receives funds from both authorities and the EU. Information outlining the respective national regulations in both countries is provided in both German and Polish. This makes it easier for companies operating across the border to observe the respective regulations of the neighbouring country. The joint activities of the national occupational safety and health authorities of both countries are helping to improve coordinated cross-border cooperation based on trust in the interests of safety and health protection for employees. This is of paramount importance against the backdrop of growing, cross-border economic relations. |
