This CBC operation dealt with the implementation of an ambulance service in the border area between Valka (Latvia) and Valga (Estonia).

An agreement has been reached between the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Estonia and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Latvia on “Mutual aid on providing the ambulance service in the border areas”. The Agreement was prepared and signed in September 2010 and ambulances started moving over the border in November 2010.
Pregnant women from Valka Town in Latvia can now come and give birth in the Valga Hospital in Estonia lying some 2-3 km away instead of going to the maternity department of the Vidzeme Hospital in Valmiera, Latvia lying 50 km away.
