Please, briefly describe the CBC activity you wanted to pursue An insured Slovenian person can access healthcare services abroad in accordance within the provisions of the Health Care and Health Insurance Act and general documents of the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia (Rules on compulsory health insurance), relevant EU legislation applicable to EU and EEA Member States and Switzerland, and interstate agreements on social security concluded with the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Republic of Serbia. An insured person may exercise the right to healthcare services in the following cases:

  • While working abroad (a worker posted abroad; a worker sent abroad by his/her employer to pursue professional training);
  • During his or her travel abroad for business or private reasons;
  • During professional training abroad or during his/her studies abroad;
  • If he/she moves abroad to settle permanently.

The Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council guarantees the application of patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare, to improve the functioning of the internal market and the free movement of goods, persons and services.
