How was the solution implemented? By whom? In most cases, a clearly expressed political will is sufficient through meetings between responsible politicians (for example, macro-regional summits). Cross-border cooperation also involves negotiation and compromise. For this to succeed, a good understanding of the structures and methods of operation of the respective partners is essential.

Institution The Land Government of Rhineland-Palatinate is a member of the Franco-German-Swiss Conference of the Upper Rhine (Deutsch-französisch-schweizerische Oberrheinkonferenz) (ORK) and of the Greater Region Saarland – Lorraine – Luxembourg – Rhineland-Palatinate – the Walloon region – the French and German-speaking community of Belgium (Greater Region).
