Area of CBC activity Labour market
Sector of CBC activity Job matching
Please, briefly describe the CBC activity you wanted to pursue Cross Border Cooperation between Denmark and Germany has become a natural part of the European integration process. The increasing number of frontier workers between Denmark and Germany shows that this cooperation in regards to labour exchange is working. Furthermore, steps have been taken to remove further obstructions for frontier workers to make the efficient cooperation on mobility even more beneficial for both employees and businesses.

A special effort have been made to provide information concerning the countries’ regulations on social security and to establish closer contacts between their respective authorities, in order to make sure that employees and employers can access the information quickly and efficiently on their rights and duties in relation to their respective labour markets. To a large extend, the goal and substance of the cooperations is to provide information and guidance to jobseekers, commuters and employers, with the aim to enhance mobility.

There is also a focus regarding educational barriers, i.e. recognition and transferability of qualifications across borders. In recent years, there has been increasing focus on matching services between countries. At the German border, the Southern Denmark Region has established an information office for jobseekers and commuters called “Infocenter Grænse”.
