The Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of Croatia have concluded a bilateral agreement on social security (Convention on Social Security between Republic of Slovenia and Republic of Croatia, Official Gazette RS-International agreements, no. 21/1997) that amongst other things provides postings of workers to other countries.

On the basis of this convention postings of workers are taking place on regular basis. Postings of workers between EU member states (for the purposes of the questionnaire Austria, Hungary, Italy) are taking place on the basis of Regulation (EC) No 883/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on the coordination of social security systems.The responsible authority in Slovenia for the posting of workers is the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia (Zavod za zdravstveno zavarovanje Slovenije). The responsible authority for making agreements for extended postings is Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs.
