The 3rd of November 2008 six partners signed a statement of intent to create a “région d’excellence technologique”: the belgian and dutch provinces of Limburg, Brabant Flamand and of Liège and the North Rhine-Westphalia. The chosed domains of action are: Chemical Advanced Material, Health and High-tech systems.
Nor the Wallon region or the Communauté germanique were involved in the RET strategy, thus detemining the exlusion of some members of the Euregio Meuse-Rhin.
In mars 2010, the Wallon region has been included in the partnership. In order to launch the RET process, a INTERREG-IV-A projet was elaborated in the framework of the Euregio Meuse-Rhin programme "Towards Top Technologie Cluster" (TTC). If approved, this project will allow the Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Ostbelgiens (WFG), and thus the PME of the Communauté germanophone, to participate to the activities and organise cross-border initiatives.
